Christchurch Painters Spray Painting

Christchurch Painting And Decorating Spray Painting

Spray painting for me honestly is the fun part of painting! I have spent many years spraying, kitchens, interior walls, ceilings, roofs, containers, exterior surfaces.

When I was asked to paint this staircase I could tell straight away that the only way to make sure to get a great job was to mask out as much of the area as possible.

The product for this was an industrial hard wearing product, easy to use from my experience as long as the steps are taken for safety and quality.

The other part was this home was 90% complete and polished concrete floors. I had to make sure that none of the over spray got anywhere other than my masking.

Once I had sprayed the staircase I had to leave it for 24 hours before de-masking.

Even though the product is fast drying it needs time to cure.

Most paint actually needs weeks for full cure of the coating to become durable and hard wearing.

This product does dry differently than some products. Most acrylics dry from the top to bottom, also the same way an oil based paint does.

This paint is different as it dries from the inside out which creates a long lasting highly durable solvent resistant coating.

This was the final finish before the wooden landings and glass were installed. The client was impressed also the builder. Me being the humble mindset I said " This job was given to me for a reason, that reason was it was a hard job to do. I can do hard!"

The reality was that with my experience and mindset I found it was easy!

My tip today is when you have a job to do, just do it and do it well.
It dosn't matter what the task is the universe gave it to you.
If you do it well than the rewards are always just as good or better.

Until next time happy painting!!!

Christchurch Wall papering

Feature Walls using wall paper
Hi everyone! Wall paper is a great way to enhance the look of specific walls around your home.

Different patterns, colours, textures can complete a room and create a lovely feel to your home.

Many clients try many different things usually the outcome is always Great!

My tip today is when your putting up wall paper always use a size on the wall first to help with the application of the drops of paper onto the wall.
Because wall boards usually are porous the size will stop the paste on the paper or wall to be drawn in.
Until next time, happy painting!!

Exterior painting is a great way to enhance the look of any structure as well as other reasons like waterproofing.

It's important to keep the surface clean to keep dirt and road fumes that stick to the surface of your paint. What happens over time is the dirt can break down the paint and cause it to fail. When it rains, water runs down the surface an carries the dirt and other contaminants with it creating an abrasive effect. In addition the harsh sunlight here in New Zealand will degrade the coating as well.

My tip for today is to clean the surface down every 6-12 months.

I offer this service to my clients and many do take up the offer.

The difference can be 20 years plus for the coating which without cleaning you can reduce the life of the coating to less than 10 years.

Christchurch painting and decorating interior painting

Interior painting done correctly has the major effect of transforming any room. Depending on what the rooms purpose is, you custom pick the colours to enhance features to evoke a feeling.

Experience has taught me the things that come into factor when deciding on colours

Clients likes and tastes
The lighting in the room
What the room is used for
Features of the room ie furniture, curtains etc

The next few photos show the process how changing colours can change the look and feel of the room.

This first pic is what it previously looked like. The home was a rental and given a much needed face lift. I'm using the master bedroom as a good example.
Before interior painting the room was dominated with the timber ceiling skirtings and windows.
The ceiling made the room feel closed and cold even though it was a big room

Now we see a complete transformation from dark hard lines to soft lighting and warmth.
The finished result transformed into a warm inviting bedroom

With the ceiling painted white made the room look stunning! The feature of the room is the fire place. With new carpet and blinds gave this room a new lease on life.

So today's tip for painting interior work is do some homework on what you want for a room.
Have a look at colours you like from test pots and be sure to look at different times of the day to get a good indication of what the colour looks like in different lighting conditions. Have a look at night with artificial light as well, the difference between the two can be huge.

Until next time happy painting!

Welcome to Christchurch painters NZ blog!!!!

This is a blog created by Phill Rowland Owner of Brushstrokes Painting Company.
We offer a high quality level of work to our customers and we love to share the wealth of knowledge we have with you, our valued audience.

Always use the right tool for the right job!!!

Grandpas old brushes in the shed wont serve you as a well maintained looked after brush can.
Brushes for painting are not all created the same. Different bristle types, shapes and sizes all factor into the finish.
By spending 20-30 dollars on a brush is a good investment. By looking after it, it will last you a very long time.

Till next time happy painting!!

We will be continuing our work in Christchurch  pushing the hard work forward.
Not just a good job but a great job! Brushstrokes will amaze!
